Last days of fun in the Maldives

Life at Medufushi resort was right out of a dream. Fantastic food three times a day, tanning and swimming and sunsets and water sports and our very own sea plane pilot joining us every evening. I will never forget it, neither will the boys.

Isabelle enjoyed her time there almost as much as the boys enjoyed having her with us!

Here the boys show us what it was all about. From dawn until Dusk they played in the pool. They never tired of it and we were hard pressed to convince them anything else could be as fun.

It is easy to understand the appeal when you look at this picture of Rob throwing Gabriel as far and high as possible. They would have stayed there all night if we had let them.

The Friends

We miss you Corinne, Gerald, Alexandre et petit Clement d'amour.

Rodney and his boys were on a trek for seashells and cool plants for their new gardens. They stopped by first to have a chat and I stole a few moments with my trusty Canon.

This is the 4 to 6pm beach club. From left to right: Alexandre, Clement, Gerald, Benjamin, Rob, Sophie, Gabriel, Rodney, Megan, Lochlan, Mitchell, Angie, Kyndell and Bobby. We threw a rooftop potluck the last week before our departure at Angie's and Megan's place. We thought it turned out very well and we should have done it more often... Once was a good start!

Our little snorkeling club. They were truly fun to watch. So comfortable and natural.

There they are, Benjamin and Gabriel's friends were a fun bunch and saved my boys and I from certain beach boredom! Canadians, French, Australians and Americans in a happy, sandy heap

The places

This is the reflection of the ocean as seen threw our open kitchen window. Coupled with the purple building going up next door. The experiment turned out better than I'd hoped...
Another perfect beach day. That's the advantage of photography next to water. It's always a little different. This one I liked because of the lines of sun flickering of the pale sand. Stepping into that warm water is as nice as you can imagine.

Another twisted attempt at the ever popular tropical palm tree.

One of our favorite place was the airport hotel pool. It was outdoor, right off the ocean and had great food. It was Corinne and my favorite hang out. It did take one cab, two boat rides and a ten minutes walk to get there but oddly enough, it was worth it!!! The boys were swimming without floaters by the end and Gabriel could hold his breath almost as long as I can!

These aerial shots are a courtesy of Captain Robert McIntyre who has a bunch more posted on his blog which I have a link to.

A few more moments on the island

I've been trying a few different tactics to capture the colors from the
water and the sand etc... It's all so beautiful especially with the last
rays of sun and a cooling breeze. It's the best part of the day. Beach time!!

Gabriel puts two feet forward

A friendly neighbour I've been meaning to capture...

Corinne's ever expressive two year old, Alexandre.

Maldivians are not afraid of colors.

Their apartments are as colorful as main street St-John's.

This one will be worth another shot when it's finished I think

A few more

Ahmarha is a sweet girl that visits us on the beach. She is very shy
but she warmed up enough for me to take a few shots.

Gabriel and Benjamin doing their thing
A sweet shot of the city of Male that Rob took a few days ago.

Don't forget to click on the shot to enlarge the image.

Ahmarha and her mom. She arrived a year ago from Bangladesh. Very nice!

Meeting new friends

As I walked around HulhuMale I stopped in front of this
little appartment and all it's residents spilled on to the street smiling and
waving at the boys and I.

Crazy Ben

In the Dhonnie crossing to Male

Gabriel's my little fish. He can now jump into the ocean without
his floaters and holds his breath for close to a minute. His motivation
is watching the fish swimming a few feet below the surface.
He pinches his nose and watches everything with his cute little goggles.
